In the 50s, it was decided to sell compact hydraulic jacks under the name ”Samson” as a symbol of strength. Samson and Delilah (in English Samson and Delilah) are found in the Old Testament. Samson was a judge in Israel and saved the Jews from the Philistines. Samson was known for his physical strength, which was evident in his long hair.

1952 - Gustav Ekstrand invented the Simson lifting tool
Gustav Ekstrand worked as a repairman at the then SKF in Hofors and was, among other things, repairing overhead travelling cranes. He built his own low-built and handy jack to change the traverse wheels. When SKF didn't like the idea, he took it to his former colleague John Waller, who was more receptive.

1936 - Wallers Mekaniska is founded
John Waller worked as a lathe operator at SKF. He started his own business with his colleague Karl Eriksson in 1936 and ran the company as a hobby. Two years later, John took over the entire business. For a period, the company was housed in the basement of Filadelfialokalen in Hofors.
